First off I want to thank everyone that has either joined the Empire this year, or have been casual followers for your dedication to our product. I have done everything I can to bring the best possible shows to you each and every week. I pride myself in my work and never want to half-ass any show. I try and out do myself each week.
In saying that, I realize that without each and every one of you contributing to the Empire we would never have lasted this long. Now, it's time to recognize the people that I believe were the heart and soul of the Empire this year.
Male Tag Team of the Year - The Chain Gang
The tag team duo of Jake Owens and Eddie O'Shay dominated the men's tag team division for most of the year until their eventual break-up that saw Jake turn on Eddie. They defeated the Guerillas of Destiny at Eve of Destruction and had a strangle hold on the World Tag Team titles for 125 days. They are tied for third for the longest title reigns this year.
Female Tag Team of the Year - Medusa Complex
Charli Evans and Millie McKenzie took the Women's Tag Team division by storm winning not one, not two; but three Women's World Tag Team titles for an incredible 131 total days. If not for Millie winning the Queen of the Ring Battle Royal and going on to win the Women's World title, these two women would still be collecting belts.
Men's Match of the Year - Alexander Stone (C) vs Tank Edge at the Day of Reckoning PPV
This unsanctioned match between the reigning World Champion Alexander Stone and the Greatest of All Time Tank Edge took place inside a Hell in a Cell and it will forever cement in my mind why I brought the Empire back after so many years. This match was as brutal as it gets and I really believe that by the end of the match both men had a greater respect for one another.
Women's Match of the Year - Caged Heat vs Canadian Ninjas vs S.E.X. in a #1 Contendership Ladder match
What a brutal match by all six women that featured a Women's World Tag Team contract being suspended above the ring. These women pulled out all the stops and we have yet to see another Women's division Ladder match that can stand up to it. All six women deserved to win that night.
Feud of the Year - Psycho Messiah vs Pretty much all of Legacy
I really enjoyed watching this feud between the newcomer Psycho Messiah and Legacy morph over the months with him beating Shane, the Thrillers and finally Kevin Nash to earn his freedom from getting harassed by them. Now out from under the thumb of Legacy, the sky is the limit for this young superstar. I can't wait to see where 2022 takes him.
Most Loved Wrestler of the Year - Godzilla Sanchez
To me, nothing spoke "Most Loved" than watching Godzilla each and every week. From the EMPIRESHOP.COM skits or just his antics in the ring, he is what I want the Empire to be about. Have fun. Love what you're doing. And just be yourself. I love Godzilla's creativity and I can't wait to see what he's got planned for the future.
Most Hated Wrestler of the Year - Travis Blake
This was an easy pick for me. Maybe too easy. Travis joined the Empire and was a dick right out of the gate, later crowning himself the "Face of the Empire". As the weeks and months went by, his ego grew out of control and later convinced the Guerillas of Destiny and Amber Nova to turn on Alexander Stone forming the Bullet Club. I can't wait to see who steps up to shut this a**hole up.
Superstar of the future - Mitch Fierce
Wow, so many great new talents have joined us this year; but it was the powerhouse Mitch Fierce that has stood out to be the breakout star of the future. His unsanctioned match at Leap of Faith could make or break him right out of the gate in 2022. A long term injury at the ppv could shelve his run at the World Heavyweight title.
Female Superstar of the Year - Amber Nova
Nobody dominated the entire Women's division like Amber Nova has, winning the Women's World title twice and the Women's National title to top the year off. Amber is well on her way to becoming possibly the greatest female superstar to ever grace the Empire.
Male Superstar of the Year - Alexander Stone
So many talented men have done incredible things this year, but nobody can match what Stone has done being the very first World Heavyweight Champion defeating Caristico at the Crossfire ppv. He then went on forming "The Gold Standard" alongside the Guerrillas of Destiny and Amber Nova. Stone had a short run as TV champion and is currently part of the Three Best Friends as the reigning World Six-man Tag Team Champions.
Thank you to all of you and I wish everyone that tunes in each week to read my shows a very safe and happy new year.
Peace.
