We open in the living room of Tank's apartment in Okinawa, Japan. Maverick sits on the couch in his pjs pouting and staring at the turned off TV. Tank wonders in and looks.
Tank Edge- Hey, not that I'm complaining but you never asked if you could stay here and haven't moved off the couch in three days. What gives?
Maverick Edge- I just feel so lost Unc. Two weeks ago I had a best friend and a nice tight vagina to play with. Now I have two guys who know more about protein powder then pop culture. I like Stone and I'm sure Mitch and whats her name would grow on me but I just miss my buddy.
Tank Edge- Hey, we've all been there man, this business just breeds this sort of thing, but that's absolutely no reason to just sit around my residence and throw off my life. This is exactly what you did when you were forced into early retirement with the Navy and I'll tell you now what I told you then, this is not a flop house and my couch is not the cure for depression.
Maverick Edge- Ali said I could stay as long as I needed.
Tank Edge- Damn women. (Tank thinks for a second) Well fine, you want to watch something?
Maverick Edge- Well, your Dark Side of the Ring is about to air, wanna watch?
Tank Edge- My episode, it was supposed to be on your dad.
Maverick Edge- Didn't Odom tell you, a couple months ago they brought us back for more interviews and said they felt they had a more complete story.
Tank Edge- Apparently I missed that.
Maverick turns on the TV and finds the appropriate channel right as the episode is starting in erst. We see footage of a young Tank and Falcon as the narrator starts.
Narrator- Born in Phoenix, Arizona, the Edgecomb brothers were always known for being close. A move from their home state when they entered their teen years lead them on a new path.
Tank Edge- Our dad got a job in San Diego and well, we moved. We went from the whitest school in Arizona to being the white guys at a school of Mexicans. It was an adjustment, some gangs decided to test us and you know, it made things rough for a bit, I was always athletic and could hold my own, but it was never Ryan's cup of tea and he really got some of the worst ends of it.
We cut to an older man in a prison jump suit with noticeable white power tattoos on his arms. Tank and Maverick from the couch both spit out their drinks.
Maverick Edge- How'd they actually get him?
Falcon Edge- I'm Ryan Edgecomb, I wrestled as Falcon Edge around the world, I'm currently incarnated at San Quentin Prison and am a shot caller for the Aryan Brotherhood.
Tank Edge- That's not a good thing for me.
Maverick Edge- That's not good for anyone.
Falcon Edge- Yeah, the damn spics were beating my ass near daily and trying to do the same to Tank, but he's always just been a fighter, my parents could have given two shits about it so before my sophomore year Tank and I started taking martial arts lessons and really hit the weights. The first day of that year, I walked right up to the leader of one of these many games and showed off my new skills and fucked him up. I earned my respect that day and they left me alone, suddenly I was a popular guy at school.
Tank Edge- By the time I got to high school he really had changed the narrative for himself, he had girls all over him, he was a star football player, he was becoming a different guy.
Narrator- Tank and Falcon both became stars of the schools football teams defense and many felt hey were destined for the NFL someday, then Falcon impregnated his high school girlfriend, Leeloo Bea.
Leeloo Bea- I mean he was the hottest guy in school, beautiful blue eyes and flowing long blonde hair, he was always a jerk but I was just so smitten and suddenly I was pregnant. My family was loaded so like, I didn't worry about money or anything, but he really took the burden of wanting to be a good father as a serious task.
Narrator- His senior year, Falcon turned down a full ride scholarship to play Safety at UCLA and began working construction jobs whenever he could to help support his son.
Tank Edge- Our parents really just left us to our own devices, and they didn't want to help him or point him in the right direction. I couldn't convince him using football to get through college to a good paying job was the right way, but I was 14-15, he wasn't going to listen to me.
Falcon Edge- Working in the construction field I met a guy who told me he did pro wrestling on the weekends down in TJ and you could make some decent money. Tank and I weren't trained officially but we had been practicing moves on each other and we were athletic and knew some mat wrestling and martial arts, he said he could get us booked and so we started tagging along with him to make some extra cash.
Tank Edge- We were once again the random white guys on the show. The workers were actually pretty helpful because we were green, but you know, we didn't hurt anyone. My first name was 5150, because I was a big Van Halen fan and I was a more high flying, martial arts style. Ryan was this beautiful man and they dubbed him Halcon Rubio or something like that. At 17, he got a minor push and I was happy to just do trios matches, I was 15 and didn't think this would be my career, I was trying to help support my nephew.
Narrator- After two years of doing this Tank's talent and skills grew while Falcon remained a hit in Mexico, Tank started getting job offers of his own in the US, which he needed as he also was about to become a young dad.
Falcon Edge- It was a weird time, like I was making great money in Mexico, but suddenly little brother who always said he wasn't trying is getting calls to travel the US and no one wanted me. It was a rash decision, but at this point, I just joined the Army and moved Leeloo and Maverick with me to Oklahoma while he became a touring wrestler.
Tank Edge- Yeah, I didn't like leaving Christina with while she was pregnant, but the offers weren't like amazing, but it was more then I'd be making as at a fast food job or anything, so I did a quick two month jaunt and when I got back, I had a daughter Isabella and Christina and I got married at 17. Then I was offered a job with a big promotion called WCCWF based out of NorCal and we moved.
Narrator- Tank quickly became a top draw in the federation. Sadly, at a ppv called Lucky March- Let the Madness Begin, at age 24 his career appeared to be over.
The camera shows an older, rather rotund figure on the screen.
Tank Edge- Jesus, Marty really let himself go.
Maverick Edge- Not everyone ages as gracefully as you.
Flamboyant Fogleman- I'm Martin Fogleman, I was known as Flamboyant Fogleman and I managed and ran the WCCWF. 5150 was my top guy and we had a guy known as The 7th Sign who was our top heel. So we came up with this match called a Hangman's Joke match, based on thee band name from the Crow, and the object was to literally lynch your opponent.
Tank Edge- I wasn't comfortable about the match at all, but you know, you kind of just feel you have to do what you have to do.
Falcon Edge- I had finished in the Army by this point and joined Tank in the federation with my Falcon Edge gimmick in full force. 7th Sign, you could just tell the guy was really off. I know his name was Luke and that was about all anyone could ever get out of him.
Tank Edge- So in the match, we both had vests under our shirts and you were supposed to hook up with an extra cord because we literally weren't trying to kill each, or we weren't supposed to be. Sign, got the noose around my neck, but he didn't attach the safety and tossed me off the scaffold.
Flamboyant Fogleman- Luckily the stunt coordinator saw this and had rigged a kill switch so as Tank went over before it could snap his neck he broke the rope, but this gallows was a very high scaffold with no padding below and Tank landed on his head and well, did some major damage.
Falcon Edge- He just laid their lifeless as blood poured from his head and Sign just stood there in a daze. I went after him and he had his car ready and running in the back and peeled out like a madman, he had been planning this.
Narrator- Luke Salas, who portrayed 7th Sign was found that night in his home dead from a self inflicted gun shot wound.
Flamboyant Fogleman- I got this guy on my pay per view, who apparently the week before had killed his wife and kids, and then started murdering ring rats at his house, Tank was supposed to be his grand finale or something. So I ended up losing my top face and heel on the same night, sucked for business.
Narrator- Fogleman was forced to sell to a Stockton business man named Mick Elwood. To try and make up for the loss of the top hands, he hoped to push Falcon in his brothers place as the top face.
Falcon Edge- So yeah, they tried me in place of my little brother, but then my wife left me and alleged abuse, and took off with my son, I just didn't have it in me at the time to lead any federation. Once again, wasn't as good as my little brother.
Tank Edge- My injures weren't as bad as they could have been, and I had a family to take care of so I came back initially as the on-screen President of the company and a color commentator. But business was still a mess as we couldn't establish a top star. So Mick then added me onto the booking committee and we kinda changed gears.
Narrator- Using his early start in Mexican wrestling, Tank was able to establish the six man division as the top draw, giving the fans something different and getting multiple guys over. Falcon, having no heart for wrestling went became a trucker. Both seemed content in life, until tragedy struck again.
Tank Edge- I didn't talk about this.
Tank Edge (on screen)- I don't want to talk about this.
Narrator- Before his tenth anniversary to Christina, she was killed by a drunk driver. With his wife dead and needing to take care of his daughter, Tank left the WCCWF and went home to San Diego. Using money he had saved over the years he opened two businesses, a bar and a wrestling school. His brother Falcon abandoned the road to help him run both. But that wasn't the end of the Edge Legacy, when we come back.
Tank mutes the TV and puts his face in his hands. Maverick pats him on the back.
Maverick Edge- I miss Aunt Christina sometimes you know, my mom was always so crazy, she was always so nice and sweet.
Tank Edge- You know what's sad?
Maverick Edge- What?
Tank Edge- If shit like this didn't remind me, I've kinda forced myself to forget about her, just so I can get through the day. 22 years later and I just can't get over it
With perfect timing Ali walks into the room.
Ali- What are you guys watching?
Maverick Edge- How fucked up Tank's life was before you.
Ali- Oh....um...fun. Do I even want to watch.
Tank Edge- Naw, I'm going for a walk, let me know how the rest is.
Tank leaves the room and Ali sits next to Maverick.
Ali- Christina?
Maverick Edge- You bet.
She simply nods as Maverick unmutes the TV
Tank Edge- Hey, not that I'm complaining but you never asked if you could stay here and haven't moved off the couch in three days. What gives?
