We open as Maverick is in a hotel room doing push ups when suddenly the door opens and Bella Edge walks in. Maverick stops mid push up and stares at her. He gets to his knees.
Maverick Edge- Hey cuz, what are you doing here?
Bella Edge- Getting ready to battle jet lag I guess.
Maverick Edge- I meant my room.
Bella Edge- Hotel was full and dad said you had an extra bed so I figured I'd at least ask, you'd save me from having to sleep on the couch with my dad and his younger than me girlfriend.
Maverick Edge- Of course it's no problem, we're family and all.
Bella Edge- Thanks, I'll pay for the room and take you out to dinner tonight or something.
Maverick Edge- Sounds fair. Why'd you come out for this show?
Bella Edge- I left the ACLU so I have some free time while Lily and I are setting up our new business venture and figured got two brothers defending titles, my dad defending his title and career and your trying to regain a belt?
Maverick Edge- Something like that, I think.
Bella Edge- How you feeling about that?
Maverick Edge- Well I miss teaming with Godzilla obviously, but you know,Stone and I are bros.
Bella Edge- And Mitch?
Maverick Edge- He's pretty prickly, kinda like Tank without the hint of a sense of humor, and his girlfriend talks funny.
Bella Edge- Please, that whole thing annoys me.
Maverick Edge- Younger woman?
Bella Edge- No the, my best friends gay and so into me she can't function as a friend if I have a boyfriend.
Maverick Edge- Does that offend you as a lesbian?
Bella Edge- It offends me as a women. It just feels like it's something a man who's never had a full conversation with a women came up with based on a couple episodes he watched of Dawson's Creek. It's one thing to pine over a crush, but to kill a friendship over it is pretty dumb once you've crossed the age of 20.
Maverick Edge- I don't think I'll pass that on.
Bella Edge- Wouldn't care if you did.
Maverick Edge- Did you watch the Dark side of the Ring?
Bella Edge- No, I know my family's dirty laundry, didn't need to see someone document it. You?
Maverick Edge- Uh, started it. Your dad walked out after your mom died.
Bella Edge- Obvs.
Maverick Edge- And Ali asked me to turn it off after Godzilla's moms death.
Bella Edge- To be fair, that's probably when it could get the most interesting, depending on how it covered everything.
Maverick Edge- I mean, we could watch that, or I we could go old school and watch some Curly Sue.
We cut to later, they both sit on their beds in pajamas with a pizza and some drinks between them as they watch Dark Side of the Ring.
Narrator- And thats when Tank, came out of retirement.
Missy Moonlight- Well, despite being a ratings draw and being like top three in merch sales, and the longest reigning cruiserweight champion, Ness just was having trouble breaking through the glass ceiling of the Empire, then he gets injured, I was pregnant, we went to Tank for help.
Falcon Edge- It was a pretty goddamn bold move by them to ask Tank for help after abandoning him at the time he most needed help, but Tank actually saw it as an good thing.
Tank Edge- So, I had met Odom on the indy scene and he was a good manager, and I figured it'd be a good time to bring in my brother and be a tag team, and the goal was to come in as a unit to help Ness get through the ceiling, but you know, wrestling is cliquey. I mean, they were doing a relaunch, we of course won the tag titles, soon as we got to the back you see the guys we just beat and their threatning and screaming at the boss.
Falcon Edge- A long time goal of me and Tank's, our first tag titles and we got to enjoy it for maybe five minutes before all the long term guys are throwing a fit because the outsiders did well.
Tank Edge- It became obvious it was going to require more then us to change momentum, and it was the weirdest thing that did.
Narrator- Tank brought in a then 16 year old Godzilla Sanchez to be a comedy character and try and ground his heel stable with reliability to the crowd. He then formed a friendship with new wrestler Reverend Snow, who was also taking the crowds by storm.
Falcon Edge- We brought in Godzilla, he was a kid so we figured it'd be a fun couple month run for him, but the fans absolutely loved him, and Reverend Snow got it and he helped him, we helped him, just being on the screen with him automatically got you over with the fans, the guys who were blocking the newer guys like DDP, Pezzer, suddenly they just were losing power and, well a new era emerged.
Narrator- Tank and Snow's feud for the world title tripled ratings, and new talent like Kris Chaotik who quickly, with Tank's help, redubbed himself Chris Simmons, brought a new era to the Empire.
Godzilla Sanchez- Here I was one of the top draws, but I stopped doing my schoolwork and since I was underage I had to step aside, they replaced me with some half talent job guy. It sucked.
Narrator- Around this time, the Empire was doing so well, the owner sold to TNA which brought in some new talent.
Tank Edge- So, Snow and I started butting heads a bit, it kinda became a, I don't want to do a power play but he's being so whiny I don't want him to get ahead that way, I think we drove Mark nuts and he made a pretty penny selling. Had I known we'd be ushering in the whiniest, manipulative guys ever, I'd have just let him have his way.
Narrator- The arrival and immediate push of Devin Skylar meant Tank and Snow were suddenly pushed to the back burner.
Bella Edge- Oh God, the pirate thing.
Tank Edge- It was so stupid, this guy couldn't draw flies and he's immediately pushed to the top where his goal was to make sure everyone stayed beneath him. If you uttered something that sounded unflattering he turned into the biggest cry baby. I thought it was so comical, I just became a comedy pirate because, it didn't matter to me anymore, everything was so stupid. Even Snow just walked away.
Narrator- Ratings started tumble, and then Tank found himself in a very bizarre situation.
Tank Edge- I went to an indy show to help scout talent, I got really drunk after the show and somehow woke up married.
Lady Edge- I didn't trap him in the marriage, he likes to say I did. He seemed geniue, next thing I know we're in Vegas getting married.
Narrator- Tank's quickie marriage brought in Lady Edge to the Empire, but Tank quickly found they were incompatible.
Lady Edge- We had little in common and just stopped talking.
Tank Edge- Nothing was working with us, but since I didn't sign a prenup, I was tentative about divorce. Around this time, on screen I was paired against Devin Skylar's sister, Samantha Skylar.
Falcon Edge- The chemistry was instant and obvious.
Maverick Edge- How was Lady?
Bella Edge- Eh, she was really quiet. She used dad to get in and then found she wasn't ready and years later still won't admit it.
Maverick Edge- Samantha?
Bella Edge- She was the best.
Tank Edge- Sam was just everything I ever looked for in a woman, and we clicked on all levels. But, we never did anything til I was divorced.
Lady Edge- Did he cheat sexually? I had no proof, but emotionally he was head over heels for her.
Narrator- Amid dying ratings, TNA re-sold to Mark and they went dark for a proper reset. Tank and Samantha continued a friendship, but it was complicated.
Tank Edge- Her brother hated me and they were close. We waited about a year before we finally became a couple and, you know he just made it so tough for her it didn't last and it kinda broke my spirit. I loved her, I still love her. We're still close friends, but that's all it'll ever be I guess?
Godzilla Sanchez- From my perspective, I was 18 and back by now, she just had an incestuous relationship with her brother and he just had bizarre control over her. She obviously loved Tank, but could never fully give herself to him.
The screen flashes that Samantha and Devin Skylar declined to be interviewed.
Bella Edge- We still talk, she's doing great.
Maverick Edge- That's a shame, but Ali's cool right?
Bella Edge- She's no Samantha.
They continue to eat in watch as the show goes to a commercial.
Maverick Edge- Hey cuz, what are you doing here?
